I have been developing, hand-building, and hand-painting professional-quality cajóns for the past 12 years.
My career began as a sculptor and painter. I saw my first cajón in 2000 at a drum circle and was totally mesmerized. The drum circle was a spiritual event for me and still is. I felt very, very comfortable there.
The sound of the cajón was very woodsy and cool. It had so many textures. There was a line of people waiting to play this drum, including me. Now I build a cajón that surpasses any cajón drum I’ve ever played.
I started building drums in every shape and size to experiment with the tone and richness, and incorporated those elements into what I offer today.
Hand-Crafted
Rather than creating the cajón with a standard wood stain on the outside, I leveraged my background as a fine artist to apply beautiful colors and amazing finishes. No two are exactly alike.
I can also customize a cajón for sound and texture in various ways – something not possible from an off-the-shelf drum that’s been mass-produced.
